I keep my love for polka dots no secret – I have a wardrobe full of them, and I never seem to get bored of dressing myself in spots. They seem to be having a real buzz at the moment, with no sign of disappearing anytime soon. I mean, when will polka dots ever not be a good idea? If you don’t like polka dots, maybe don’t answer that last part. Anyway, I’ve seen a lot of polka dot clashing around recently, and it’s inspired me to start mixing pieces together, and making the trend work from my own wardrobe…
Jeans always seem like a good place to start. Especially when you’ve finally got around to washing your laundry bag of delicate vintage blouses, and nothing else will do. Levi jeans and vintage blouses were made for each other – it’s just a fact, and a combination that I’ll never tire of exploring…
If you’re trying your hand at print clashing for the first time, it’s always great to have a minimal base as your foundation for the outfit. Simple, high waist trousers would work really well, or even a pair of shorts depending on the weather/occasion you’re styling for. That way, you can start off clashing accessories and ease your way in. Here I’ve clashed my new Zara espadrilles, but a little polka dot print bag and some black trousers would make for an amazing evening option. I’m picturing black/satin ankle strap shoes and red lipstick – now I just need to find the perfect polka dot arm candy…
I won’t lie to you, I couldn’t walk all day in these espadrilles – they were definitely a purchase made with a fun factor in mind. They aren’t uncomfortable, but I do have a tendency to topple sideways wearing anything slightly unpractical on my feet…
