Yellow seems to be having a real moment, and I’m all for it. The longer these colour trends seem to hang around, the more they encourage me to step outside of my comfort zone and try something new. I picked up this yellow vintage blouse last year, and almost threw it away in the midst of a big spring clear out. That’s the thing with colourful pieces – I always manage to convince myself that they don’t have the same longevity as the monochrome and neutral ones hanging alongside them…
I’ve realised that I’m most comfortable in colour when everything else is pretty relaxed in comparison – off white jeans make the perfect canvas to play around with, and are definitely shaping up to be a summer staple. Granted, they last around five minutes if you’re as accident prone as I am, but they do make any outfit look instantly chic. Think Jane Birkin in Cannes.
A coloured shirt/blouse is a great piece to have in your wardrobe at this time of year – you can layer them up over swimwear for a fun poolside look, or wear them during the daytime over slip dresses and cami tops. Here, I’m actually wearing a vintage gingham swimsuit that I dig out every year – I love the way it fits me, and flatters the minuscule amount of chest that I have. I wore this look during a heatwave, and it felt right at home – I could take the blouse and on off, wear it loosely around my shoulders, or even tie it around my waist…
I got sent this little Wicker Wings bag not long ago, and it seemed rude not to go all out and throw some extra yellow tones into the mix. Mustard is always a safe place to start if you’re a bit fearful of brighter yellow tones, there’s some amazing mustard summer pieces around at the moment too – I’m on the hunt for the perfect button down midi dress…
I personally think yellow is one of those colours that looks great on everyone – you just have to find the right shade. I’ve also realised that introducing more colour into my wardrobe, has generally made me a little more experimental in other areas of my personal style…
SHOP THE YELLOW EDIT
I’ve found myself wanting to try out quirkier styles of footwear, and prints that I might usually shy away from – summer is definitely the time of year to step outside of your comfort zone and have some fun. Especially on holiday, I always see any getaway as a chance to try out something new , both culturally, and when it comes to my outfits…

I’ve been trying to give yellow some more love as well as it’s never seemed to suit me. I love the muted tone of this shirt and think it looks so lovely!x
