I’ve been obsessed with neutrals for as long as I can remember – they just feel so timeless, and there’s something very vintage and classy about a women dressed head to toe in neutral tones. It’s a look that I like to adopt during the spring/summer months for a number of reasons: I feel that they flatter my hair/skin tone (especially with a fresh summer holiday tan), and they are a match made in heaven for any wicker/straw accessories. Think nineteen forties safari with a Françoise Hardy edge, and you’ll have a little insight into the way I’m piecing my wardrobe together for the warmer months that lie ahead…
I used to always think that tighter trousers would be most flattering, but I love the freedom of opting for an oversized pair that don’t necessarily hint at the figure hidden beneath. They are giving me all the Eighties inspired summer vibes, and I can’t wait to pair them with a white blouse and a straw bag for an effortless Parisian look. I’ve really been into my vintage again lately – it kind of comes and goes depending on how distracted I am by what the high street has to offer, but I’m really making the effort to shop more responsibly as much as possible…
I used to practically live in thrift/vintage shops, and I really found that it influenced my personal style in a positive way. I’d pick up statement pieces. I’d think through my purchases a little more, and I’d always feel more fulfilled because I knew I was recycling something old and breathing life back into it…
If you’re looking for effortless vintage trouser inspiration, look no further than the likes of Katharine Hepburn and Lauren Hutton. True queens of styling the masculine/relaxed fit trouser in my opinion, and two sources of inspiration that I find myself returning to time and time again….
I love these trousers so much that I’ve already fallen into the trap of gravitating towards them for every single outfit – I’ve been wearing them with a whole array of different blouses, with a simple T-shirt tucked in, and even with a slouchy jumper on the weekends. I can’t wait to shoot them with some sort of matching blazer – I have a vintage cream check one that might just be a made made in heaven…

I was just shopping yesterday for cream, ivory or white trousers. They are a great summer piece and overall classic piece to have. You look great as usual.

These trousers suit you so well! I can resonate with what you said regarding the fit of the trousers; I used to only wear skinny jeans, but tried my old ones the other day after almost 2 years without wearing them and not only it felt extremely uncomfortable, it also didn’t seem as flattering as my other looser trousers. I just managed to snap a very baggy and light pair of high waited trousers from Cos at my local charity shop and can’t stop wearing them in this heat wave 🙂
