Whilst there’s really nothing more effective than a long walk or some time spent reading under a cosy blanket when it comes to unwinding at home, there are also some key products that I couldn’t be without at this point in 2020. I’ve really tried and tested a lot of beauty products over the years, so when a product really stands out to me, I know it’s going to be something I continue to repurchase for years to come!
With this in mind, I thought I’d talk you through some of my absolute fail-safe products when it comes to unwinding at home and generally easing an anxious spell. None of these things are remedies to serious anxiety. but they do aid me in setting up a ritual that helps me sleep better and worry less. When used regularly as acts of self care, they help me feel much less anxious overall and much better equipped to deal with the day ahead… (it’s mainly all in a good nights sleep)
DREAM A LITTLE DREAM…
CBD OIL – if you haven’t tried CBD yet and suffer from anxiety or just have general aches and pains from being hunched over a desk at home all day, I really recommend giving it a go! It won’t be for everyone but I’ve really relied on CBD products this year and they have made those extremely highly strung days much more bearable. I also take it before I sleep and it really helps me sleep through until my morning alarm. My preferred method is taking the drops just under my tongue as I find it’s the fastest and most effective way to get it into my system. When I’m feeling really highly strung, they just help me calm down and think more rationally. I’ve linked my favourite CBD products below for you…
A PILLOW MIST – it might just sound like another luxury product that seems like a waste of money but I promise that there’s real lasting benefits to a great pillow mist. I’ve tried lots of different ones and you don’t have to spend much to find a really beautiful scent that can help promote a good nights sleep. I find a pillow spray in combination with a silk pillow case is the ultimate recipe for a luxurious nights sleep. Again, it might sound like something that’s very over the top but don’t knock it until you’ve tried it. Essential oils can be very powerful when it comes to alleviating stress…
A BATH SOAK OR OIL – if you’re not a bath lover then this probably won’t interest you but I am a big advocate for baths and truly believe that soaking in the bath for just fifteen minutes can help ease even the worst of days. However, a great bathing experience is really only as good as the concoction of products you add to the running hot water! I love making a little potion like some kind of witch preparing her cauldron – I love anything that foams up and creates lots of bubbles, along with a bath oil to really moisturise my skin whilst I’m fantasising about being in a hot spring somewhere beautiful. Looking after your body is a monumental act of self care and one that can really impact a positive mentality towards everything else you do…
AN ACT OF KINDNESS – whether it’s putting on some cuticle oil or lighting a candle, I find that doing one last thing for my mind/body before I sleep really sets me up for a restful evening ahead. It could be massaging in some body lotion or tying my hair up in a silk scrunchie (they really are better for your hair). It could be reading a chapter of my book or making myself a peppermint tea – whatever it is then helps me feel a little more pampered and relaxed before I climb into bed…
