Jigsaw kindly sent me this midi shirt style dress recently and I feel like it’s just the ‘pick me up’ that my winter wardrobe needed. I always find this time of year difficult to dress for because mentally I’m over the winter outfit combinations, but realistically, the winter outfits are still essential for a little while longer! I didn’t want to wait to wear this dress, so I decided to shoot it in the studio with Catherine the other day, styled how I might like to wear it on a spring day/evening…
I think it’s nice to look ahead in terms of styling because it feels good to have outfits to look forward to. When the weather outside is dull and gloomy, it’s fun to play dress up and start planning for the warmer months that hopefully lie ahead. Similar to booking fun plans in advance, it’s good for the soul to have outfits hanging in your wardrobe that will soon have new memories associated with them…
I got this dress in my usual size and I love the fit of it! It’s such a versatile piece, and I really feel as though I’ll get a lot of wear out of it. It could look super preppy with an oversized blazer and some flat loafers for meetings/work related errands, but it could also look a lot softer/summery with the sleeves rolled up and a few buttons undone. I’m picturing it with chunky sandals and a basket bag in tow when we finally get some sunshine.
