Who knew a green gingham slip dress would be so tricky to style? I probably contradicted myself there, but I really didn’t think I’d have any issues making an outfit out of such a simple piece…
That’s the trouble with the magpie in me sometimes. I have a habit of picking up pieces that I’m visually drawn to, without stopping to think how I’d wear them as an actual human being just living my life. This And Other Stories beauty is a great example of this. It was kindly sent to me as part of my monthly gifting with them which is super generous (I always hand pick these pieces), and means I get to select those ‘trickier to style’ items to share with you guys on here…
It’s quite thick material and very figure hugging/stretchy at the same time. I tend to stay clear of body-con style dresses, so when I initially tried this on I really wasn’t too sure. However, I really loved the print and overall style of the dress, so had a long hard gaze into my wardrobe for some styling inspiration…
I remembered I had this vintage linen blazer, and I just love how it looks thrown over the top – it’s perfect for summer evenings because it’s such a thin material, and really changes the whole feel of the overall look. Teamed with my trusty Novesta, it’s now got that boy meets girl thing going on. I think this is such an easy way to make a fitted dress look a bit more ‘cool’ and laid back for strolling around on holiday…
Throw in a little beaded bag and you’re pretty much set! I’d also wear this with heeled sandals depending on the occasion, but wherever possible, you’ll find me opting for the comfiest shoes in my suitcase…
