Fashion in film is something I think about a lot – I’m a huge cinema fan, and I’ve always loved immersing myself in the storylines of different characters that interest me. You can guarantee that if I’m watching a film for the first time, the first thing I’ll comment on will be what someone’s wearing. Particularly when it comes to period dramas (or pretty much any Wes Anderson film), I think I’m most attracted to clothing that feels as though it belongs to another time entirely. Pieces that would pretty much be deemed fancy dress attire if I was to walk down the street dressed in head to toe in them…

One of my favourite films to reference when it comes to fashion has to be Atonement. Those of you have already seen it will understand why – for those of you who haven’t seen it, add it to the top of your watch list immediately. It’s one of those ones that I can watch again and again, and never fails to make me fall in love. Keira Knightley is a goddess no matter what she’s wearing – lets face it, the woman could fashion a couture piece out of a bin liner. She’s the epitome of an English Rose for me, and perfectly suits all the satin, floral, and smudged red lipstick that her Atonement wardrobe has to offer. It’s the perfect watch if you’re feeling a bit dry on the summer inspiration front, and always reunites my love for floral print just when I think I’ve had my fill…

I think my favourite scene has to be the fountain scene. It’s so beautifully romantic and unique – it gives me the same gushy feeling every time I watch it. I know, I’m a hopeless romantic at heart, but I really can’t help it – I live for films scenes that make my heart burst…

It’s just so well executed – everything from the outfit she’s wearing, to the electric tension between them. Equally, I love the part where she runs through the gardens afterwards in an attempt to dry her outfit after jumping into the depths of the water feature. The pace at which she’s running, the movement of the material, the flowers she’s clutching…

Everything about that part of the film creates this nostalgic feeling for more simple times. It’s so pure and typically British summertime. If you happened to live in a huge house with very fancy things that is…

Whenever I watch a film that makes me want to climb inside it and live inside the storylines forever – I search for pieces in my wardrobe that enable me to cling on to the characters for that little bit longer…

This floral vintage blouse is definitely one of those pieces. A far cry away from Cecilia’s whimsical floral slips and backless satin slips, but my own little nod to one of my favourite films nonetheless. Teamed with my trusty vintage Levi jeans, it’s my way of going about my everyday life whilst also feeling like I’ve wondered off the film set. It’s a blouse I’ve had for years now, and it’s falling apart in places, but it still makes me feel amazing whenever I put it on…
