One of my favourite colour combinations lately has been the oh-so pleasing pairing of grey and tan tones. It’s definitely not for everyone, but I love how they instantly make any outfit look really Seventies/retro inspired. I thought I’d share a couple of looks I’ve been leaning towards over the last few weeks in a bid to give the marriage of ‘grey and tan’ the attention it rightly deserves…
Jumper c/o – Whistles, Trousers c/o – Whistles, Shoes c/o – Arket
This first look is an absolute staple for me at the moment – a chic jumper and a pair of tailored trousers. When the weather is rubbish and I have places to be (the storm struggle is real), this is the sort of look I rely on heavily. I can wear it during the day with chunky boots and a big wool coat, then by evening, I can slip into some sling-backs that elevate the look into something that means business…
This second look is something is something I shot on film as more of a ‘mood board’ look. I wanted to show how tan accessories could transform an ‘all grey’ outfit, but I’d most likely wear a top of some kind underneath the blazer if I was leaving the flat…
I do love how the whole ‘blazer worn as a top’ trend looks, but in Manchester you’re only ever one gust of wind away from a serious case of game over. That being said, a thin grey turtleneck would look lovely with this look, or even just a little bralet if you were feeling brave! I love styling a neck scarf this way at the moment – I’ve seen it a lot over on Instagram and I’m so glad that neck scarfs continue to remain ‘cool’. They are such an easy way to transform an outfit that feels a bit flat, and they just add a certain elegance that not many other accessories seem to accomplish…
