I thought I’d kick start the week with a very autumnal inspired outfit that I’ve been living in recently! The weather here in Manchester has been very up and down, so I’ve really just been gravitating towards simple combinations that I can throw a jacket over when necessary…

I picked up this gorgeous checked jacket from Sézane a few weeks back and it’s finally cooling down enough to wear it without sweating by midday. It’s one of those super cosy jackets, and almost has a duvet style feel to the interior lining (yes please)! I always go for around a 12/14 in Sézane outerwear and find that’s the perfect amount of room to layer pieces underneath. There really is nothing worse than buying a jacket that you can’t fit a long sleeve garment underneath (in my humble opinion at least)… 

If you haven’t checked out their new autumn collection yet then I strongly recommend that you do – even just for some styling inspiration! I love to scroll my favourite online shopping destinations at this time of year and really get a sense of what I want my wardrobe to look like for the months ahead. It’s interesting to see certain trends popping out, and to get a feel of what I already have lying around at home. Sézane have a wonderful way of taking on the trends each season but turning them into classic pieces that you’ll return to again and again… 

I’m also wearing skinny jeans for what feels like the first time in forever! I wore a pair on a recent press trip with Barbour and actually felt quite nice in them. I really like the silhouette they create with oversized pieces worn on the top half. I think it’s just the term ‘skinny’ that always puts me off ‘skinny jeans’ slightly – it just leaves a bit of a bad taste in the mouth. As though they might be intended for exclusively ‘skinny’ people. Anyway, jeans are jeans at the end of the day, and I’m really trying to just wear what makes me feel good each day… 

I am also still obsessed with the Gucci cat eye sunglasses I picked up earlier this summer, and will be sad when Manchester is no longer serving me sunny days to sport them proudly. I feel that ‘a winter coat and some sunglasses’ sort of weather has to be the most exciting for me – there’s something very glamorous about being all wrapped up on an average Monday whilst your eyes are concealed behind sepia toned tortoiseshell…
