I recently invested in this Burberry stripe shirt after weeks of pining over it online. Burberry are one of those brands that feels very nostalgic to me – they remind of a fake Burberry scarf I had in college, and it was one of the first ‘higher end’ perfumes I ever asked my mum for. I don’t think they even still create the scent that I had, but I remember loving it so much…
I know it’s a bit marmite, but I personally really like the classic Burberry prints – more so when it’s styled in a way that’s toned town and a bit more chic. I love the Burberry bags too! I’d been eyeing up some of the vintage ones over on Vestiaire for a while, but I decided that was probably overkill so long as I’m obsessed with the new shirt in my life…
I also snapped up a vintage Burberry trench on Depop earlier this year and have worn it to death! So much so that it’s currently in my dry cleaning pile. There’s few things I hate more than trips to the dry cleaners, but I’m determined to get round to it in the next couple of weeks. Since silk/satin pieces have been so popular again, I find that I have so many difficult pieces to wash. I always end up shrinking things, or they just come out feeling completely different…
Washing woes aside, what do we all think of this striped beauty? It was definitely an investment piece, but not one that I really needed to justify to myself. You guys know how much I love stripes – I’ve owned sooo many striped shirts over the years, so this felt like a no brainer. I got it in a size 12 as I wanted it to be a bit loose fitting, but I probably could have got away with the ten as it’s pretty generous in terms of the fit. They also do a satin version which is way more expensive, but I thought this version was much more timeless…
I’m hoping it stands the test of time anyway! I really can’t wait to style it during the autumn/winter months – I’m envisioning it over cream jeans with a cropped jumper, pointed boots and a long wool coat. Maybe even a beret! Can you tell I’ve too much sun over the last month and I’m craving a change in season?
Maybe not just yet, but autumn style will forever be my favourite…
