I was lucky enough to do some shoots on the beach whilst I was away in Portugal recently (it’s a hard life but someone has to do it ey). All Dad jokes aside, I’d really forgotten just how much being by the beach slows down the pace of thoughts racing through my head and generally just calms my soul…
I’m a beach baby through and through. I love lazing on the beach during the daytime and getting stuck into a good book, or maybe listening to a playlist. I love sunbathing and watching new freckles appear. I love people watching – I rarely see unhappy people at the beach. Normally it’s families running in and out of the waves together, or couples sharing a blanket whilst watching the sun go down.
There’s something magical about the beach just before sunset. Most people are packing up for the day and it often feels like such a privilege to be able to stay and watch the golden sun disappear beyond the waves. It’s these sort of moments that I treasure so much more since living in a city centre…
The beaches we visited in Portugal have to be some of the best I’ve ever visited. Endless stretches of sand complete with waves that could definitely sweep you off your feet if you weren’t looking. There’s something about the sound of the roaring waves that really numbs any noise inside my head…
I know the beach isn’t everyones idea of relaxation, but to me it’s always felt a lot like home…
